Surface Treatment Options to Extend Service Life of CNC Machined Automation Parts
For precision CNC machined components used in automation, motion control and sensor systems, proper surface treatment is critical to boost wear resistance, corrosion protection and assembly performance. Different working environments require different finishing solutions.
Anodizing is the most common choice for aluminum parts. Hard anodizing delivers high hardness and wear resistance for sliding components, while clear or black decorative anodizing provides anti-corrosion protection for sensor housings and brackets.

For stainless steel parts, passivation removes free iron on the surface and improves rust resistance, which is widely used in fluid control and outdoor automation equipment. Electropolishing can achieve an ultra-smooth surface for sanitary and low-friction applications.

Brass components often adopt nickel plating or tin plating to enhance anti-tarnish performance and improve electrical conductivity, suitable for conductive and connector parts. PTFE coating is selected when low friction and self-lubrication are required for plungers and sliding sleeves.

We will recommend the most suitable surface finish according to your operating conditions, including temperature, humidity, contact load and chemical exposure. All surface treatments are coordinated with our CNC machining process to ensure tight tolerances are maintained after finishing.
At Shenzhen Chenrong Technology, we work with qualified surface treatment vendors and perform final dimension inspection after finishing. We support small-batch prototype orders and mass production for global automation and sensor manufacturers.
If you have special requirements on surface roughness, coating thickness or color, share your drawings and specifications with our engineering team for a customized solution.
