High-Precision Thin-Wall Aluminum CNC Machining for a European Automation OEM
High-Precision Thin-Wall Aluminum CNC Machining for a European Automation OEM
Project Overview
Client: European industrial automation OEM, developer of vision inspection systems
Material: Aluminum alloy
Tolerance: ±0.008 mm
Surface finish: Hard anodizing
Service: DFM review → CNC prototyping → CMM inspection → Mass production & export
Challenge
The customer needed multi-cavity thin-wall aluminum structures for their new inspection machine. Previous suppliers struggled with thin-wall deformation after machining. Batch parts had inconsistent anodizing color and surface scratches, which caused assembly issues and delayed their product launch.

Our Solution
Our engineering team performed a full DFM analysis on the CAD drawings before production. We adjusted clamping strategy and added process compensation to release internal stress and minimize part deformation. Custom fixtures and optimized cutting parameters were used on our 5-axis CNC machines.
After machining, every critical dimension was verified by CMM inspection. We checked surface quality carefully before anodizing to reduce scratches and guarantee uniform finish. Full inspection reports and material certificates were prepared for export.

Result
The prototypes passed the customer’s assembly and reliability test at the first submission. The initial batch of 50 pieces was shipped on time with less than 0.3% defect rate. We became their long-term precision CNC machining supplier for automation equipment components.
Client Testimonial “Many vendors can make good samples but fail in mass production. Chenrong’s DFM advice saved us from deformation risks. They respond fast even with time zone differences and provide complete documentation for every shipment. We trust them as our reliable CNC parts partner.”
